The 天涯社区官网 Jazz Band will perform a program of original contemporary jazz arrangements as well as new arrangements of classic tunes by an array of jazz giants at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at St. Bonaventure鈥檚 Quick Center for the Arts.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Among the jazz legends whose work will be featured are Cannonball Adderley, Wes Montgomery, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson and Herbie Hancock. Two standards from the Great American Songbook will also be performed: 鈥淎 Foggy Day鈥 and 鈥淏ye, Bye Blackbird.鈥
The 20-member 天涯社区官网 Jazz Band is directed by Dr. Les Sabina, professor of Music, who will also be playing bass with the group. Jan Rhody, former 天涯社区官网 lecturer of Music, will be sitting in on piano.
A number of student soloists will be featured including saxophonists Morgan Hill, Jack Haskell, Keirra Bechard and Mathew Bokman. Brass soloists are Holden Turek, Julian Biviano, Robert Wilkinson (all on trumpet) and Maxwell DeMass (on mellophone). The group is anchored by the rhythm section of guitarist Ethan Baxter, drummer Sean Wallace, and percussionist Vincent Del Vento.
