Communications Day

CommDay, held in April each year, is a chance for high school students from the region to take a glimpse into their future, to see what aspect of the broad field of communication they might want to explore.

A keynote talk, a CommPetition, workshops and more

ÌìÑÄÉçÇø¹ÙÍø-TV_commday 2024Students arrive on campus between 8 and 9 a.m. for breakfast and registration, followed by a welcome by the dean of the Jandoli School of Communication and a keynote talk by a distinguished guest speaker, usually an accomplished graduate of the school.

Following the keynote address is a series of workshops aimed at helping students learn about different aspects of the communication industry and ways to become better communicators.

An optional CommDay Commpetition lets schools compete for recognition and thousands of dollars in ÌìÑÄÉçÇø¹ÙÍø scholarships by submitting works in three categories: video, photography and writing.

The morning ends with lunch on campus, after which schools may return to their home schools or stay for a campus tour and an additional workshop session.

There is no fee to attend CommDay or participate in the Commpetition. Prior registration is required.
Schools are provided with a CommDay information packet that includes:
  • the complete CommDay schedule
  • workshop descriptions and presenters
  • information about applying for school bus grants
  • rules and deadlines for the CommDay Commpetition
  • a link to the CommDay registration form

  • CommDay 2027

The date for CommDay 2027 will be determined by fall of 2026. Please check back at that time for program details and registration information.
