Several African American male artists, using art, music and poetry to express themselves and the challenges their community endures, will take the stage in “Hear the Brothas” at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 8.

Civil War monuments, particularly Confederate monuments, have been lightning rods for controversy in recent years. A new collection of essays co-edited by Dr. Chris Mackowski, professor of journalism and mass communication at St. Bonaventure University, tackles some of the tough questions that stem from those controversies.

The John J. Murphy Professional Building has stood strong in the 40 years after its construction as journalism and media rapidly changed around it. But now it’s time to modernize Murphy, which is home to St. Bonaventure’s Jandoli School of Communication.

Two chapters by Aaron Chimbel, dean of the Jandoli School of Communication, were included in a new book titled "Building Journalistic Skills: From the 5Ws to Fake News."

Dr. Chris Mackowski, professor of journalism and mass communication, served as a scholar in residence for the Williamson County Heritage Foundation in Franklin, Tennessee (not affiliated with “the” Heritage Foundation). Mackowski presented a pair of workshops at a June 1-2 conference for teachers.
